Christmas in the Alps >>
The name of our quilt is “Christmas In The Alps”. The quilt is a 9 month project which will be ready in time for next Christmas. We will use 4 techniques to make this quilt. They include embroidery, appliqué in the hoop, piecing and quilt as you go. The quilt as you go technique will include templates and easy to follow instructions for continuous line quilting.
You will receive a special Zundt embroidery motif for each of the 8 appliqué holly leaf blocks. The overall finished quilt size will be 80” wide x 80” long. You will be able to adjust this size slightly by making a wider or narrower border around the quilt. Each pieced basket block will be a 12” x 12” finished size. All the Zundt embroidery motifs will fit a 5” x 7” size hoop. The designs for the appliqué leaf block will fit either a 5“ X 7“ hoop or a 200mm X 300mm hoop. For the first month, we will make the 36“ X 36“ center block. It will be a raw edge appliqué Christmas tree. After the first month, there will be 2 blocks sent each month. The special Zundt embroidery motifs that go in the center of the holly leaf block will be used to decorate the large Christmas tree when all the blocks are finished.
We will use the beautiful limited edition Christmas fabric “Noel by Susan Winget“ from Benartex. We have a supply of this fabric for a limited number of quilts. We will reserve enough fabric to complete your quilt when you place your order for the first block. You will need to order early while fabric is available.
